For example, for box parts, the main hole is generally used as the rough reference machining plane, and then the plane is used as the fine reference machining hole system; for the shaft parts, the outer circle is generally used as the rough reference machining center hole, and then the center hole is used as the precision Standard processing of other surfaces such as outer circles and end faces. If there are several precise datum, the processing of the base and main surfaces should be arranged in accordance with the order of datum conversion and the principle of gradually improving the machining accuracy.

The main surfaces of the parts are generally surfaces with high processing accuracy or surface quality requirements. Their processing quality has a great impact on the quality of the entire part. Their processing procedures are often more, so the processing of the main surface should be arranged first.
