Brief Introduction about Stamping Parts

2021-12-17

Stamping is a forming method that uses a press and a die to apply external force to plates, strips, pipes, and profiles, etc. to cause plastic deformation or separation, so as to obtain a workpiece (stamped part) of the desired shape and size.  Stamping and forging are both plastic processing (or pressure processing), collectively called forging. The stamped blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel plates and strips.

60-70% of the world's steel products are plates, and most of them are stamped and made into waste products.Car body, chassis, fuel tank, radiator sheet, boiler drum, container shell, iron core silicon steel sheet of motor and electrical appliances are all processed by stamping. There are also a large number of stamping parts-in instruments, household appliances, bicycles, office machinery, household utensils and other products.

The stamping process is a consumer technology that uses the power of conventional or special stamping equipment to make the sheet material directly bear the deformation force in the mold and stop the deformation, so as to obtain product parts with certain shape, size and performance. Sheet metal, mold and equipment are the three elements of stamping processing. According to the stamping processing temperature, it is divided into hot stamping and cold stamping.

The former is suitable for sheet processing with high deformation resistance and poor plasticity; the latter is stopped at room temperature, which is a common punching method for thin plates. It is one of the main methods of metal plastic processing (or pressure processing), and it is also subordinate to data forming engineering technology. The mold used for stamping is called stamping die, referred to as punching die.

The die is a special tool for batch processing of materials (metal or non-metal) into the required punching parts. Dies are essential in stamping. Without a die that fits the request, it is difficult to stop mass stamping consumption; without an advanced die, an advanced stamping process cannot be completed. The stamping process, the die, the stamping equipment and the stamping data constitute the three elements of stamping processing, as long as they are separated from each other to obtain a stamped part.
